Another Strong Runner Up Result For Edgar Lau At Sonoma

Lau takes 2nd but more importantly closes the points gap again for the championship.

Napa, CA– August 8, 2020 – AR-G Motorsports announces Edgar Lau, team driver with Chris Alliegro takes 2nd Place in GT class at Sonoma after drama and fierce battle. Alliegro who was supposed to compete this round was hampered but the wildfires burning in Northern California barred him from traveling. A lot of development gone on with the #19 BMW M3 over the weekend as Lau worked out the setup and dial in the car with what little time he had to work with after the team made a stellar effort to recover the #19 and #23 cars from the fires burning in Napa on Friday. Lau qualified the #19 3rd in class and 4th on the grid with teammate Makishima taking the overall pole position. Lau did not let up from the green flag and made his way up to 2nd overall, but more importantly put a car in between the points leader and himself by the time the checkered flag flew.

Qualifying

Lau spent the qualifying opportunity to continue to fine tune the #19 Rose Construction BMW M3 for the race and put the car 3rd in class despite traffic on Sunday morning.

Race

Lau drove a valiant stint from the green flag, putting the #19 M3 car through a pace it has not seen before. Lau spent a few laps to run down the #33 car but by the time Lau got by, the #17 car had taken the lead and pulled out a gap. Despite Lau’s continued effort to drive on the edge, he ran out of time and has to settle for 2nd place.

Quote

Edgar Lau, Driver #19 AR-G Motorsports BMW M3

“The weekend was not how we wanted it to happen. I feel bad and sorry for those who have lost their homes in the fire or unsure if they have a home to go back to. Lucky for us, our team endured the disaster thanks and big shout out to Cal Fire for their selfless acts.

For our race, as we always do; we worked hard to make sure we get the most out of our car and we have proved again what we are capable of. Although down on power we came 2nd and that’s all that we can hope for this weekend to close the gap and give us a fighting chance at the end of the season for the championship.”
