Strong Finishing Result for Chris Alliegro at USTCC Season Opener

Alliegro continues to push the boundaries as a developing driver netting strong results in the back-up car at Buttonwillow.

Napa, CA– June 20, 2020 – AR-G Motorsports announces Chris Alliegro, 2019 USTCC GT championship 2nd runner up and AR-G Motorsports development driver since 2018, has returned for a 3rd year for a full 2020 season campaign. Alliegro captured valuable championship points in the 1st USTCC race of the season, despite driving a back- up car that was underpowered for GT class. Alliegro adapted quickly to a car new to him and on his first outing at Buttonwillow raceway immediately found his footing around different track configurations CW13 and CW25 respectively despite having slight technical setbacks early in the weekend.

Qualifying

Alliegro qualified the car 4th in class on a very crowded Buttonwillow Raceway on Sunday morning putting him in a strong yet safe position to watch the race pan out on the first lap before making a move come Sunday afternoon.

Race

As the green flag dropped, Alliegro sat behind the leading trio going into turn 1 and was able to hang on until the car was plagued with an electrical issue causing the car to cut out briefly on the back straight dropping the M3 into 5th place. Alliegro kept the car going to the best of his capabilities and held on to 5th spot till the end.

Chris Alliegro, Driver #19 AR-G Motorsports BMW M3

“We had a good weekend. Great car and competition, and it was super fun to be back out on the track again. I’ve got my work cut out for me, but last weekend’s race gives me a solid baseline to build from. As the championship goes, we achieved our goals of getting those championship points that will put us in a good position to fight back later this season.”

Edgar Lau, Team Manager AR-G Motorsports

“ Chris had a big hurdle to get over at the Buttonwillow race from learning a new car to learning a new track yet he was able to iron out all the challenges he faced over the weekend despite unexpected setbacks and limited track time. We could not be more proud of what Chris has achieved under these circumstances. We stand confident to see stronger performance from Chris in the coming races.”
